WINGO

It’s blowing the dust off of a forgotten antique and making it magically work in a new space. It’s pulling over on the side of the road to clip a great branch. It’s a paint palette that you’ve had since High School. It’s understanding how profoundly connected art is with a sense of humor. It’s a boundless zest for creating and expressing yourself. It’s “Mags-milism” being the only aesthetic we ever want to possess.

I’m a born-and-raised Atlantan, having grown up in Vinings and spent my childhood on the banks of the Chattahoochee River. My upbringing was deeply tied to nature and water, as my family often split our time between Georgia’s coast and the Florida Panhandle. This instilled in me a profound love for coastal landscapes and a fascination with waterways. As a child, I was captivated by the idea that a stick tossed into the river behind our home could make its way to St. George Island, one of our most cherished destinations and a place that will always feel like a second home to me.

Recently my husband (also an Atlantan) and I had the opportunity to live in Jacksonville, Florida, for five wonderful years. This time allowed us to immerse our two children in the Florida lifestyle I’ve always loved—surrounded by water, boats, beaches, and lush vegetation that sparked endless inspiration. While we cherished our time there, returning to Atlanta to be close to family and lifelong friends has been a dream come true. We are so excited to watch our young children grow up here with all the things and people we love.

Tell Us the Story of Getting Into This Craft

Creativity has always been in the center of my life, rooted in a family that deeply valued artistic expression. My family includes painters, furniture makers, and musicians, so I grew up surrounded by inspiration. I was fortunate to attend a school (Pace Academy) that emphasized the importance of the arts, giving me the confidence to pursue passions. From a young age, I was encouraged to explore my creativity—whether that meant painting on my bedroom furniture or working on elaborate art projects.

My parents played such a big part in shaping my creative path. Both worked for our family-run furniture company, allowing me to be around fabrics, art, and interior design from an early age.

I loved being immersed in that environment and knew from a young age that I wanted to be part of it. My mother’s passion for gardening and floral design also had a great influence on me. I remember watching her transform backyard blooms into magical arrangements, especially during the holidays, when magnolia and hydrangea were spray-painted gold to create the most beautiful decorations you can imagine.

One of the most memorable moments in this journey also came in high school, thanks to my dad who believed in me so much that he told a designer client I could paint a large coastal marsh scene she envisioned. That encouragement led to my first commission—a set of three six-foot-tall panels. Completing that project made me feel 10 feet tall and solidified my passion for combining art, design, and nature.

What’s Your Favorite Part of the Job?

I love creating spaces where memories are made and happiness is shared. Whether it’s through a painting, a floral arrangement, or a beautiful piece of furniture, I’m passionate about bringing joy to those who inhabit these spaces. Most recently, I discovered the thrill of painting murals, after convincing a client to let me in on her dining room walls. It feels like the most natural and beautiful way to merge my love for art, interior design, and floral inspiration. It has been such an amazing experience and filled me with so much excitement about future possibilities.  I can’t wait to take on the next project.

How Has This Work Influenced Your Home Life?

There is nothing I enjoy more than making art with my children. They inspire me so much and most everything they create I wish I could replicate.

They have also been by my side when I might be foraging say wildflowers in the mountains for party arrangements, or on the lookout for some special  kind of berries needed for a holiday project. This kind of treasure hunting makes life so fun for us and Im so thankful for their eyes and hearts. I want them to be able to see beauty around us in all forms.

What’s Your Dream Project/Client?

My dream project would be painting a mural in a hotel like the grey field inn on Cumberland island, or a home in south Florida in need of painted palm trees
