COHEN

It’s vintage baby toys stacked in a corner. And Moroccan bowls brought back from honeymoon stacked on the counter. It’s terra cotta. It’s getting lost in a book. It’s taking deep breaths and daily walks in the park.

Perched a few streets over from Piedmont Park, the Cohen’s family home is a capsule of their calm, cool, and collected vibe. The sound of a one year old banging on a mini piano in the living room and Maggie Rogers invites us in, and we stay for the scent of the Maison Louis Marie candle burning and the long, relaxed conversation. The couple lights up when asked about growing cherry tomatoes on their patio and as they tell us about how special it is to see their son, Odys, inherit their music obsession. And the topics turn a bit more tender when discussing being new parents and their transition to settling back home in Atlanta after years of being away.

As Bram articulates how inevitable this life back in the south felt, Jodi nods along. This setting that they’ve curated certainly indicates a particularly keen degree of intention. In fact, it’s easy to get lost in how reflective the space is of their adventurous nature and sentimentality. It seems as if every object on display has a story and purpose behind it. Authenticity abounds, effortlessness is exuded. That’s our Jo. It’s no surprise her house is the personification of that laissez-faire, yet carefully considered, demeanor she possesses.

Tell us the story of finding your home.

We moved back to Georgia, where we’re both originally from, in 2022. We wanted to live in a part of town that reflected back to us the things we loved so much about living in New York & LA - green space, walkability, diversity, good restaurants - so when I saw this little gem on Zillow right near the Beltline and a block from Piedmont Park I lovingly (/forcefully?) made my husband tour it with me later that same night. It has just the right amount of space for having one child, and a home office x Pilates room . I know we will grow out of it soon, but the natural light and the openness of the space has brought us so much joy.

What's one ritual you do that makes it feel like your space?

Tending to our interior garden. Our ritual is Bram on houseplant duty and me on flowers. We also planted our first raised garden bed on the deck last Summer and got to enjoy tomatoes, basil, and other herbs for months. This year we expanded into lettuces, veggies, and strawberries. Wish us luck!

What's one item around the house that you hold especially sacred?

An oversized mauve loveseat in Odys’ room. It was the first big furniture purchase Bram and I made when we were newly living together in LA. At the time we needed something cozy and comfortable in the second bedroom turned office. Now it’s traveled with us to Atlanta and it’s the spot we all squeeze into to read to Odys. Even when it’s just used as the landing pad for his little folded laundry it makes the room that much brighter.

Our intention with this series is to spotlight the homes of these effortlessly stylish friends who haven’t relied on designers, but their own instincts when it comes to decorating. How do you pull your interiors together?

It sounds cliche but I am so inspired by interiors when I travel. Blending textures, mixing old and new pieces, and incorporating color feels so much less intimidating when you see it out in the world. I think at this age I’ve realized that what makes decorating the most effortless is just decorating with the things you love, and have collected. If it means something to you, then it will live beautifully in your space.

what are you currently placing on a pedestal?

  1. I Playtime. Our son is at such a fun age where we get to disconnect from our “to-dos” and just live in a play-zone on the floor, away from our phones. It’s precious time and it’s the most important thing to us right now.
  2. II Daylight savings. Maybe it’s controversial but I vote we keep it! I absolutely love it staying lighter longer. I’ve taken so many more pre-dinner strolls because of it and have stressed less about eating dinner & going to bed a little later.
  3. III My Dyson Airwrap. Honestly, it’s the best postpartum gift ever. The journey back to feeling like myself again was longer than I thought it would be, and not to mention a wild ride for my hair! New breakage, new frizz, new growth. Now, drying my hair is actually soothing, versus a chore. Especially when I pop in my AirPods and a TaySwift playlist :)
  4. IV Being a student again! I’ve just made a career shift from a decade in Creative & Marketing into teaching Pilates full time. It’s a passion-led shift and it feels really rewarding/scary/awesome to study something I love, and then share it with others.
  5. V Forever and always, natural wine.
