LIZ AND TIM

LIVINGSTON

It’s a floor full of Breyer horses. And a mudroom full of barn boots and Air Force 1s. It’s two children that look exactly like their father leaving sticky handprints all over the sunroom door. It’s a home constantly on the precipice of another remodel. It’s so much laughter and love, mixed with moments of sadness. It’s our life.

My best friend and husband have always known exactly what they wanted to do. It’s beautiful watching two people you love apply their talents to fields they are extremely passionate about. I’ve watched both of them work so incredibly hard and am so proud of them. Meanwhile, at times it has seemed like my career has been “trying to figure it out.” I started in digital ad sales and marketing, then moved to a career in textiles for interiors, and then moved over to CPG for home goods, fashion, baby gear, and household appliances. Each twist and turn in my career taught me so much - what fills my heart and what I am passionate about as well as what I really do not enjoy. Through all of this experience, Meredith and I have always talked about starting a company together. I envisioned this happening 5-10 years from now, but when my second daughter was born, I knew I could not return to corporate life. Lucy is my second daughter, but I felt like a first time Mom all over again. She had several GI issues and it was such uncharted territory. After lots of tears and conversations with friends and family I left my corporate job. This change opened up space for me and Meredith to start having conversations about the future. We made two pedestals and a set of stools for my home and I fell in love with the products. Slowly but surely we started scheming together and we just naturally started building this business together. It’s funny because looking back I don’t remember a specific time stamp of when we fully committed to this new venture, it really just happened and our passion for this brand, our mission, and products has given work a new meaning for me. Even though I am working so hard, it doesn’t feel like work. I am showing up for my children in better ways than I did before which is the most important piece of this for me. My heart its bursting with excitement and I am so energized by this new venture. I hope as a viewer, you can see and feel that in the product and content that we are putting out into the world.

Xo,

Liz

Tell us the story of finding your home.

We moved from LA during Covid into my parents house in Florida. On the weekends we would drive up to Atlanta to look at houses, and finally, after months, we found “the one”. My husband and I rushed up to Atlanta, walked inside, and knew immediately… it was not “the one”. The connection wasn’t there. Zillow, it turns out, can be misleading.

Not wanting to waste a trip, we looked at a few more houses. When we walked through the front door of our current home, an afterthought based on the Zillow pics, it felt warm. It had character, charm, and soul. The kitchen sink looked out over a play gym in the backyard. The toilet seats had little toddler toilet seats you could pull down for the little ones. The living room had the same wood paneling as my best friend’s parents home, the Randall’s, which brought back memories of martinis and Frank Sinatra.

I saw us growing our family in this home. There was a lot I wanted to change — namely the red ceiling and peach walls in the front room — but I felt like it was a project worth taking on. I called Meredith right away and made sure she thought we could really make the old gal shine. With her approval, we put in an offer and are enjoying renovating little by little!

What's one ritual you do that makes it feel like your space?

My husband and I met when I was 22. I’ve been going over to his parent’s house for 15 years now and on the weekends my father-in-law plays classical music all throughout the house. He also makes homemade pancakes, his father’s recipe, that are just perfection. Whenever I put on classical music in the mornings, I’m instantly calmed. I love that we are passing on their grandfather’s tradition.

What's one item around the house that you hold especially sacred?

I’m really not just saying this because it’s our product but the pedestals and stools we made for my home. They were our first prototypes and they are so precious to me. My oldest daughter uses the stools like they are her own personal property. She flips them over and pretends like she’s sailing in a boat. She uses them to stand on and grab toys off the shelf. The pedestals flank a piece of artwork that I love and give so much more life and height to our space.

*what are you currently placing on a pedestal?

  1. I Watching the relationship between my daughters blossom. They are three years apart and since our youngest is approaching her first birthday they are now able to really share moments of laughter and joy together. Elinor gets so excited when she makes her little sister laugh. It’s everything that is good in this world.
  2. II Any belt with some western flair!
  3. III My cup run-eth over with excitement, happiness, and love for this business we are starting. We’ve poured so much heart and soul into every aspect. It’s rooted in so much intention. It’s beautiful to start a business with your best friend that you’ve known since high school. Lots of self-deprecation that leads to fits of laughter. It’s not without hardship but the fun outweighs any obstacle thrown our way.
  4. IV The first time I get to run my hands down a horse’s face, look them in the eye, and connect with them. There are no words, just a silent connection where we read each other’s hearts. You would think jumping around a course would be my favorite moment, but it’s not. It’s a moment of silence prior to riding.
  5. V Indulging in my favorite foods. The Usual at Fellow’s Café, a burger made by Chris Page, and The Chef’s Menu at NoriFish.
